Director Thiruselvam made a comeback to Tamil television after seven years with the serial Athir Neechal. The show started on a promising note and has been receiving a lot of appreciation since then. However, it recently landed in controversy when several photographers in Chennai started protesting that the director had insulted their profession.
The tussle between the photographers and Thiruselvam is rooted in an episode of Athir Neechal that aired last week. In this episode, a marriage function was going on. During the wedding, Janani is seen dancing in the hall with her friends.
While many were happy to see him dancing, some were a little scared. Adimuthu Gunasekaran, however, gets furious seeing the girls dancing. One of the friends tries to convince him that this is a trend but he reprimands them. Everyone is left scared. The man who had scolded him does not stop here. He calls the wedding photographers and reprimands them for filming the dancing girls. This scene has stunned the photographers.
Angered by this, Tamil Nadu Photo and Videographers Association protested in Valluvar Kottam, Chennai. The association demanded that director Thiruselvam and actor G. Both Marimuthu apologize to him. The association has also said that they will not back down until the director and the actor apologise.
Madhumita is seen playing the role of Janani in this serial. Apart from Madhumita, Haripriya Isai is seen playing the roles of sisters of Priyadarshini and Kaniha Janani. Sabari Prashant, Kamlesh, Jagdish, Satyapriya are also a part of this serial.
Bombay Gyanam, one of the famous veteran actresses, is returning to the small screen after a decade with this serial. Ethiranichal is aired on Sun TV from Monday to Friday at 09:30 PM.
