pf updateJob Change: A job change means that an employee has to go through many changes, which involve updating a lot of paperwork. One of the most important tasks in this regard is the paperwork related to your provident fund account balance, which needs to be transferred from your previous employer to your current one. This often puts employees in a state of panic, especially those who miss out on a job change and then realize it later. They often think that for this they have to visit the Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) office near them, which is not the case. You can do this sitting at home. The online facility to transfer PF is provided by the apex retirement body backed by the government.
The process of transferring the Universal Account Number or UAN since its launch PF balance Online has become easier. With UAN, all the accounts of the employee remain in one place, even if the money is in different accounts. Therefore, it is important for you to share your UAN with your current employers so that funds can be transferred there.
Apart from this, EPFO has also suggested six easy steps to transfer your PF balance online in 2020, through its Twitter handle, amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Step 1: The employee has to log in to the Unified Portal (Member Interface) of EPFO https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ using his/her credentials i.e. UAN number and password.
Step 2: As soon as you log in, you have to click on ‘One Member – One EPF Account (Transfer Request)’ which will be available under Online Services.
Step 3: Then you have to verify the personal information and PF account for the current employment.
Step 4: To know the details about PF account of previous employment you need to click on ‘Get Details’ below.
Step 5: You will get an option to choose your previous employer or current employer, to verify the claim form, depending on the availability of the authorized signatory holding DSC. You can select any one employer and provide Member ID/UAN.
Step 6: To receive OTP on UAN registered mobile number you need to click on ‘Get OTP’ option next and then enter OTP and click on submit button.
After completing the above process, the employer will digitally approve your EPF transfer request using the employer interface of the unified portal. You will also have to fill Form 13 and download the Transfer Claim which will be in PDF format and submit the physical signed copy of the Online PF Transfer Claim Form to the selected employer. After this process you can continue to contribute to your retirement fund.
