The era of digitization and the increasing level of smartphone penetration in the Indian market means that most of our day-to-day tasks can be done on the go, wherever we are. One such important feature that can now be easily accessed and changed thanks to this digitization is, Employees Provident Fund (EPF) account. there was a time when you had to go physically Employees Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) office to claim transfer of account on your behalf. Now, with the help of technology, you can do it from the comfort of your home.
Here’s a step-by-step analysis of how you can do your transfer pf account at a moment’s notice:
Step 1: Visit the official website of EPFO: https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface
Step 2: Once you are on the portal site, you need to log in with your UAN and password.
Step 3: After logging in, go to the ‘Online Services’ section and click on ‘One Member One EPF Account (Transfer Request)’.
Step 4: Verify your personal information and ‘PF Account’ details for current employment (the company you currently work for.)
Step 5: Click on ‘Get Details’ option. After doing this, the PF account details of the previous employment will appear.
Step 6: Next you have to choose either the previous employer or the current employer to verify the form.
Step 7: Click on ‘Get OTP’ option to receive OTP on your UAN registered mobile number.
Step 8: The last step is to enter the OTP and click on ‘Submit’.
The only thing left to do after submitting the claim and request is to wait. Once the current employer or your previous company has verified the required forms, your PF account will be transferred officially. You also need to note that as an employee, you must also submit a self-attested copy of your online PF transfer request to the selected employer within 10 days of filling the online form. It also has to be submitted in PDF format.
After that, the employer accepts the PF transfer request digitally and thereafter, the transfer is done to the new account with the current employer. A Tracking ID is also generated which can be used to track the online application. In some cases, you need to download the Transfer Claim Form (Form 13) and submit it to the employer to complete the PF transfer process.
Online EPF accounts are updated regularly, including the latest accepted transactions of settlements, transfers etc. On successful submission of requisite information, you can access all the details as well as make necessary changes. These changes are usually made when the employee leaves his current organization for another.
In order to carry out the process of PF transfer, you need to keep certain documents handy to complete it successfully. For one, you’ll need to keep the amended Form 13 with you, just in case you need it. You must also have your valid Identity Proof (POI) document, which includes Aadhar Card, PAN Card, Driving License, Passport etc. Make sure you have your UAN number, current employer details, establishment number, account number, bank account details of the salaried account as well as your old and new PF account details.
