New Delhi: Do you know that the unique 12-digit number known as Pension Payment Order (PPO) helps pensioners to get their pension? The PPO number is a reference number for any communication made to the Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO), and in case a pensioner forgets this number or is looking for a PPO, there are two ways.
You can either find it by using their bank account number linked to Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) or by using your PF number.

In a recent tweet, EPFO shared a detailed infographic to explain the steps to get your PPO number using Bank Account Number or PF Number.

First of all go to EPFO website www.epfindia.gov.in
Then click on ‘Pensioners Portal’ on the left side of the homepage.
It is a separate portal for pensioners focused on various services – Jeevan Pramaan enquiry, check your PPO number, PPO enquiry or payment enquiry and know your pension status.
Then click on ‘Know Your PPO Number’.
In the next step, the system will ask you to enter either your bank account number which is linked to the pension or your member identification number or member ID.
On submission, you will get to know the PPO number and other details.
Employees Pension Scheme 1995 (EPS) is one of the schemes offered by EPFO. EPS provides monthly benefits for retirement/retirement, disability, survivor, widow(er) and children.
“Make sure to submit your claims in the prescribed proforma for grant of Pension/Gratuity/Commutation/Revision to your Head of Office at least six months before the date of your retirement so that the Pension Payment Order (PPO) will be sent to you through your Head office before your retirement,” the central government said as per the details on the pensioners’ portal.
It also states that in case of loss of PPO, the PDA should be informed immediately. You should also request for production of loss certificate to the concerned authority for obtaining duplicate copy of PPO.
