Petrol still costs Rs 102.49 per liter in Chennai, while Bangalore has a pump rate of Rs 105.25 per litre.

Diesel prices are still stuck under Rs 100 per liter for metros and Bangalore. Delhi’s diesel rate is Rs 89.87 per liter. Mumbai and Kolkata are stable at Rs 97.45 and Rs 93.02 per liter respectively. The price in Chennai is Rs 94.39 per litre. In Bangalore city, drivers have to challan at the rate of Rs 95.26 per liter continuously for the last one week.

The skyrocketing price of fuel, as it stands these days, can largely be attributed to the fuel excise duty and value-added tax (VAT) along with state-based taxes levied against it. These factors make up most of the fuel price tags facing motorists across the country.

Oil prices fell overnight on Friday, despite the fact that it was predicted to remain mostly stable through the end of the week. According to a Reuters report, after a sharp drop in prices, he saw supply remain tight on expectations, as demand appears to be on a recovery track.

Brent crude oil futures fell 7 cents, or 0.1%. This left the final price at $73.72 per barrel by 0147 GMT. This comes after a 2.2% jump on Thursday, the report said. Brent crude was forecast to move towards a 0.1% gain this week, according to Reuters.

US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures fell 8 cents, or 0.1%, to $71.83 per barrel. Similar to Brent, WTI followed with a gain of 2.3% on Thursday. WTI was set to end the week flat, the report said.
