Petrol, Diesel Prices Today: Fuel rates remained unchanged in metro cities on Friday, March 11. Prices have remained stable for over 120 days, even as international crude oil prices rose during the day after a sharp fall in the volatile previous session.

The central government had cut excise duty on 4 November 2021 to provide relief from prices that have reached an all-time high. The government had cut petrol by Rs 5 per liter and diesel by Rs 10 per liter, which brought down fuel prices significantly.

Later in December 2021, the Delhi government reduced the value-added tax on petrol from 30 per cent to 19.40 per cent. With this, petrol prices in the national capital were reduced by Rs 8.56 per litre.

Oil prices rose on Thursday after a sharp fall in the previous session as markets pondered whether major producers would boost supplies to help bridge the gap in output from Russia due to sanctions over Ukraine’s invasion.

Brent crude futures were up $3.10, or 2.8 percent, at $114.24 a barrel as of 0419 GMT after trading in the more than $5 range. The benchmark contract fell 13 per cent in the last session in its biggest one-day fall in nearly two years. US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were up $1.58, or 1.5 percent, at $110.28 a barrel, after trading in a range of more than $4. The contract had fallen 12.5 per cent in the previous session, in the biggest daily drop since November.
