Petrol, diesel prices hiked for the fourth consecutive day

Petrol and diesel prices rose for the fourth consecutive day to touch a record high across the country. With a hike of 35 paise per litre, the price of petrol in Delhi touched an all-time high of Rs 108.99 per litre. Diesel price also saw an increase of 35 paise and the fuel rate in the national capital stood at Rs 97.72 per litre.

Mumbai also registered an increase in fuel prices as compared to yesterday. The retail price of petrol in Mumbai today is Rs 114.81 per liter while the price of diesel is Rs 105.86 per litre.

Petrol in Kolkata costs Rs 109.46 per liter, while diesel costs Rs 100.84 per litre. The price of petrol and diesel in Chennai is Rs 105.74 and Rs 101.92 per liter respectively.

Petrol and diesel prices vary from state to state based on the incidence of Value Added Tax.

Meanwhile, the central government is in talks with many oil exporting countries on the issue of supply and demand of oil, but there is no possibility of immediate relief in prices.

Earlier, a source had said that the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas had recently raised concerns over the issue of prices, supply and demand for oils for major oil producing countries.

“With crude oil prices rising internationally, the petroleum ministry has called on the energy ministries of several countries such as Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Russia and others,” the source said.
