Petrol, diesel prices below Rs 100 in many states after tax cut; check fuel rates

petrol And diesel prices in India remained stable for the tenth consecutive day on Sunday, November 14. Petrol and diesel prices fell sharply after the central government earlier this month decided to reduce excise duty on auto fuels. In a relief to the common man suffering from record high fuel prices, the central government on November 3 cut excise duty on petrol by Rs 5 per liter and on diesel by Rs 10 per liter. Following this decision, several positions, mostly governed by the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and allies, have also cut Value Added Tax (VAT) on petrol and diesel prices. With this, the price of petrol has come down below Rs 100 in most states of India.

Following the reduction in the price of petrol, the rate of auto fuel was reduced to Rs 103.97 per liter in the national capital. The price remained the same on November 14 as well. Diesel price remained unchanged at Rs 86.67 per liter for the day.

Petrol price in Mumbai dropped below Rs 110 after Center cut excise duty. On November 14, the price of petrol was Rs 109.98 per liter, while the price of diesel was Rs 94.14 per litre.

Petrol price in Kolkata also remained unchanged. The cost of one liter of petrol in Kolkata will be Rs 104.67. In the eastern city, a liter of diesel was available at Rs 89.79 per litre.

Petrol in Chennai was being sold at Rs 101.40 on 14 November. Diesel price also remained unchanged at Rs 91.43 per litre.

The overall incidence of taxes on petrol has come down to 50 per cent after the central government cut excise duty. Tax on diesel has been reduced to 40 per cent.
