Petrol, diesel prices below Rs 100 in many cities after tax cut; check fuel rate

Petrol, Diesel Price Today: Petrol and diesel prices remained stable across India on Monday, December 6. This was for more than a month as petrol and diesel prices across the country remained largely unchanged. After the stable rate of fuel, the central government decided to cut the price of petrol and diesel by Rs 5 and Rs 10 by reducing the excise duty on auto fuels. This comes after petrol and diesel prices touched record levels, which is a matter of concern for the common man. Petrol and diesel prices were cut on the eve of Diwali last month, following which several states took the cue and cut value-added tax on them.

Petrol price in Delhi today remained unchanged at Rs 95.41 in 2021, with the Centre’s tax cut and state VAT deducted. The price of petrol in Mumbai on that day was Rs 109.98 per liter, the highest in the metropolitan city. The price of one liter of petrol in Kolkata on Saturday was Rs 104.67. On Saturday, the price of petrol in Chennai was Rs 101.40 a liter. The price of petrol in Ahmedabad that day was Rs 95.13.

The cost of a liter of diesel in Delhi was Rs 86.67. Diesel price in the financial capital was retailing at Rs 94.14 for a liter after the price cut, and was also unchanged. The price of one liter of diesel in Kolkata was fixed at Rs 89.79. Diesel price in Chennai was Rs 91.43 per litre. At the same time, the price of one liter of diesel in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh will be Rs 90.87.

Petrol and diesel prices vary from state to state based on various factors such as international crude oil prices, VAT and freight charges. Oil marketing companies update petrol and diesel prices every day at 6 am.

International crude oil prices rose by more than $1 a barrel on Monday after top exporter Saudi Arabia raised the prices of crude oil sold to Asia and the United States. Brent crude futures for February were up $1.69, or 2.4 percent, at $71.57 a barrel by 0033 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate crude for January was up $67.92 a barrel, up $1.66, or 2.5 percent.
