Currently, petrol price in Delhi is stable at Rs 96.72 per litre; Diesel price here is Rs.89.62. Petrol cost Rs 106.31 while diesel cost Rs 94.27 per liter in the country’s financial capital Mumbai. In the automobile hub of Chennai, petrol was sold at Rs 102.63 per liter while diesel was sold at Rs 94.24 per litre. Earlier, petrol price in Kolkata remained stable at Rs 106.03 per liter and diesel at Rs 92.76 per litre.
Before the price was stabilised, petrol and diesel prices used to fluctuate each day depending on the demand and supply of the fuel and the exchange rate between the Indian Rupee (INR) and the US Dollar (USD).
