Petrol cost the highest in Mumbai at Rs 106.31 per litre. Diesel became Rs 94.27 per liter here

India, like many countries around the world, relies heavily on fossil fuels to power its transportation sector. Petrol and diesel, the two most widely used fuels in the country, remained at a stable price for the last 9 months. The rates of these fuels are free from fluctuations in exchange rates and supply and demand due to price stabilization by Indian Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs). OMCs, which usually update prices every morning at 6 am as per the latest market trends, have kept rates steady to make up for losses incurred in the last few quarters.

This process of change in prices continued on Wednesday as well. As of March 10, 2023, petrol and diesel prices in India remain high in most parts of the country. Petrol in Delhi is being sold at Rs 96.72 per liter and diesel at Rs 89.62 per litre. A liter of petrol in Chennai costs Rs 102.73 and the same amount of diesel costs Rs 94.33.

Petrol cost the highest in Mumbai at Rs 106.31 per litre. Diesel has become Rs 94.27 per liter here. Petrol in Kolkata cost Rs 106.03 per liter and diesel Rs 92.76 per litre. The variation in prices across cities can be attributed to local taxes and transportation costs.
