Petrol and Diesel Prices in India Today: On January 25, the rates of petrol and diesel were kept unchanged at Rs 109.98 per liter in Mumbai.

Petrol and diesel rates today in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Lucknow: Petrol and diesel prices remained unchanged as oil marketing companies (OMCs) kept rates stable across the country on January 25. Petrol in the national capital is currently priced at Rs 95.41 per liter while diesel in the city is Rs 86.67 per liter. The price of a liter of petrol and diesel in Mumbai is Rs 109.98 and Rs 94.14 respectively. Fuel prices have remained stable since the central government cut excise duty in November last year to bring down retail rates from record highs. Including Public Sector OMCs Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (BPCL, Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. (IOCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL) Revise fuel prices daily in line with the benchmark international price and foreign exchange rates.

Oil marketing companies have neither increased nor reduced the rates of petrol and diesel for more than two months while international oil prices have remained volatile. The most recent change in petrol and diesel prices came in Delhi on 1 December when the local government reduced the value added tax (VAT) on petrol from 30% to 19.40%. Any change in the prices of petrol and diesel is effective from 6 am every day. Retail petrol, diesel prices vary from state to state due to local taxes like VAT or freight charges.

Noida: Petrol price – Rs 95.51 per liter, Diesel price – Rs 87.01 per liter

Gurugram: Petrol price – Rs 95.90 per liter, Diesel price – Rs 87.11 per liter

Fuel prices in major cities were collectively revised on November 4 after the central government cut excise duty on petrol and diesel to bring down retail rates from their record high gains. The government on November 3 cut excise duty on petrol by Rs 5 per liter and on diesel by Rs 10 per liter to provide relief to consumers from record-high retail fuel prices. The Center also urged states to cut VAT on two auto fuels, following which several states announced reduction in VAT.

Crude oil prices fall from 7-year high

Crude oil prices rose on Tuesday morning as supply concerns put pressure on prices. Brent crude futures were trading 48 cents up 0.6% at $86.75 a barrel. Meanwhile, US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures climbed 34 cents, or 0.4%, to $83.65 a barrel, according to Reuters.
