Pentagon Says ‘No Object Found’ After Unidentified Craft Detected over Montana, Airspace Temporarily Shut

US Federal Aviation Administration temporarily closed airspace around Montana ‘due to an object that may interfere with commercial air traffic’

The Pentagon clarified on Sunday that no objects were detected over Montana after an unidentified aircraft was reported in US airspace bordering Canada.

“North American Air Defense detected a radar anomaly and dispatched fighter aircraft to investigate. Those aircraft did not identify any objects related to the radar hit,” North American Aerospace Defense Command and US Northern Command said in a statement.

The report of the unidentified object comes after US fighter jets shot down similar objects flying over Alaska and Canada.

Senator Jon Tester of Montana also confirmed reports of the presence of an object in Montana airspace and said he was in close contact with senior defense officials.

“I am aware of the object in Montana airspace and remain in close contact with senior DOD and administration officials. I am closely monitoring the situation and receiving regular updates. I am demanding answers for the American public. Will continue,” he said in a tweet.

Meanwhile, the US government’s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) temporarily closed the airspace around Montana.

“The FAA closed some airspace in Montana to support Department of Defense activities. The airspace has been reopened,” said a statement from the agency.

Congressman Matt Rosendale of Montana informed that the airfield was closed due to an object that could interfere with commercial air traffic.

The White House said the purpose or origin of the new object was not clear but it was taken down because it was flying at 40,000 feet and was posing a threat to civil aviation.
