Pensioners get more time to submit life certificate. know the details

Life Certificate Submission 2021: The central government recently announced in a notification that it has extended the last date for submission of life certificates for pensioners this year. As per the notification, the deadline for submission of life certificate has now been extended till December 31. The government said this was done in view of the inability of senior citizens to go out frequently due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the increased risk due to the virus. Jeevan Pramaan, also known as Jeevan Pramaan, is an essential document of existence for a pensioner that serves as a proof that he/she is still alive.

Usually pensioners have to submit their life certificate by 30 November every year. This year was no exception until the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) announced an extension of the deadline for submission of life certificates in an office memorandum dated December 1. DoPPW noted that a large number of central government employees who have retired have to visit bank branches to submit life certificates.

“In view of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in various states and keeping in view the vulnerability of the elderly population to the corona virus, it has now been decided that the existing timings for submission of life certificates for all age groups of pensioners The limit should be increased from Rs.30/-. After 11/2021,” the DoPPW said in the memorandum. It clarified that during this period, all pensioners would receive their pension uninterruptedly from the Pension Disbursing Authorities (PDAs).

“Now, all central government pensioners can submit life certificates till December 31, 2021. During this extended period, the pension disbursing authority (PDA) will continue to be paid uninterrupted,” the department said. It was also noted that measures were taken to ensure that there is no rush at bank branches amid the COVID-19 situation while obtaining life certificates.

The Jeevan Pramaan can be submitted digitally through the Jeevan Pramaan website (https://jeevanpramaan.gov.in/) or through the app. To get yourself registered for the process one has to first download the Jeevan Pramaan mobile application. Here the applicant has to submit his Aadhaar number, pension payment order, bank account number, bank name and mobile number. This portal uses the Aadhaar platform for biometric authentication and the applicant has to submit his/her fingerprint for identification. After a successful authentication, the Jeevan Pramaan portal will send an SMS to the registered mobile number, which contains the Jeevan Pramaan ID. After that, the life certificate can be obtained by providing the ID.

If the process seems too tedious, pensioners can also personally visit the pension disbursing banks and submit a form. Doorstep banking is also another way through which life certificate can be submitted. Pensioners can also complete the process through postman or designated officer.

In addition, State Bank of India To ease the process of submission of Life Certificate, a video calling facility has been introduced for its customers. In a press statement, the bank said that with the Video Life Certificate service, customers can schedule video calls with SBI employees at their convenience. In this way, they can complete the life certificate submission process without visiting the bank branch. An SBI customer, who is in receipt of pension, is eligible for this service. All he has to do is be present during the video call with the agent and keep his PAN card ready.
