These Panchavati will be planted in each direction – peepal in the east, banyan in the north, bel in the centre, amla in the west and Ashoka tree in the south,” said Rajeev Tajyan, Divisional Forest Officer, Gurugram.
“It will be developed near ponds, temples and common areas in all villages of Gurugram. We have already spoken to several villages regarding the project,” he said, adding that the villagers would protect and nurture him.
Meanwhile, Gurugram celebrated Van Mahotsav on Sunday and plans to plant 15 lakh saplings this year. Of these, about 1.5 lakh saplings will be planted. Forest Department While the rest will be planted in the district with the cooperation of the public, various institutions and organizations.
