Patna: Police on Wednesday arrested three criminals from a rented accommodation near Kanti Factory Road under Patrakarnagar police station area for their alleged involvement in three separate robbery and murder cases.
Two country-made pistols, three magazines, seven live cartridges, one cell phone, one motorcycle and cash of Rs 38,150 were recovered from the arrested criminals, who have been identified as the accused. Shankar Kumar Surname Shankar Rai, Ganesh Kumar alias Ganesh Rai (both from Dhanarua) and Kanhaiya Kumar alias Shahrukh From Rajauli of Nawada.
The criminals were arrested from Kankerbagh police station by a special investigation team led by City SP (East) Jitendra Kumar and Sadar ASP Sandeep Singh.
According to the police, the three criminals were involved in a robbery at an artificial jewelery shop in Kankarbagh on December 26. Manish Kumar, husband of a saleswoman at the shop, was shot dead by criminals during the robbery.
Patna SSP Upendra Sharma said criminals were also involved in the murder of a transgender on December 21 at Chirayatand bridge in the city. “One Amit Kumar was earlier arrested in this case and sent to jail,” the SSP said.
The transgender was shot dead while returning from a birthday party. The killing sparked protests in the city and members of the transgender community took to the streets. Three criminals were involved in another robbery at a jewelery shop in Anisabad on December 18.
“Investigation has revealed that same gang was involved in all the three incidents. The criminals were booked under various sections of Arms Act and Indian Penal Code (IPC),” the SSP said.
