Patna Metro gets 7,500 entries for logo contest Patna News – Times of India

Patna: Patna Metro Rail Corporation (PMRCA senior official said on Friday that over 7,500 entries have been received from people across the country for its logo contest, which is spread across small towns and big cities.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is working on the Patna Metro project, which aims to decongest the city for the first time using a massive rapid transit network. “We have received an overwhelming response from over 7,500 entries from across the country. Apart from Patna, it also includes big metropolitan cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore and smaller cities like Guwahati. So, people have shown great interest,” a senior PMRC official told PTI.
The PMRC is the managing authority of the Patna Metro, and the Principal Secretary to the Urban Development and Housing Department of the State Government holds the charge of Managing Director of the Corporation.
The official said the entries are being evaluated by a five-member jury and a final decision on the PMRC logo is expected by the end of September. There was no age limit on sending entries. As per the competition specifications, a concept note was also to be attached with the entry.
“Out of about 7,500 entries, around 2,500 are from Bihar, with Patna having close to 2,000 entries. All the big educational institutions are located in Patna in different disciplines, so this is a huge response,” the official said.
Entries for Patna have come from IIT, BIT. Night, Patna University And its colleges, NIFT and even school children have sent logos designed as part of the competition that ended on July 23.

PMRC while announcing the competition had underlined that the contestants should “design a logo that will not only represent Patna, but also the urban transport revolution that will be brought to the city in the near future”.
The jury consists of PMRC chief, senior officials of Patna Metro and experts from NIFT-Patna Patna College of Arts and craft, the official said.
The winner will be selected on the basis of creativity, originality, technical quality, creative ability and visual impact. The official said a factor would also be how well the vision of the PMRC is depicted in the logo.
“We have received entries that are completely digitally designed, as well as hand-drawn illustrations. The jury will take a call on the entries, and then eventually be decided by the MD of PMRC,” the official said.
