Howrah : Due to the activism and readiness of the Railway Protection Force, a passenger has been arrested with cash of 25 lakhs being brought illegally. The RPF handed over the seized amount and the passenger to the Income Tax Department for further action. According to the information, under the leadership of RPF’s North Post Commander MD Bhutia, the team of SI Kaushal Kumar, ASI Sumanta Sarkar, Head Constable A Bagh, Subroto Ghosh, Women Constable Pratyasha Kumari was doing regular checking in the Old Complex. Meanwhile, the RPF got suspicious after seeing the movement of a passenger near gate number 2/3. When the RPF stopped the said passenger and started questioning, he was shocked.

When his bag was checked, the RPF was also stunned. A lot of cash was kept inside the bag. The passenger was taken into custody for not showing valid documents related to cash and not giving satisfactory answers. A total of 25 lakh cash was recovered in the investigation, which was confiscated. During interrogation, the passenger gave his name as Rajendra Sharma (54) son Late. Ramdhani Sharma resident told Gandhinagar under Chittapur under Sigra police station area of ​​Varanasi district of Uttar Pradesh. During interrogation, it was found that he works in a shop named SK Jewelers located in Thateri Bazar of Chowk police station area in Varanasi.

He was going to deliver the cash of 25 lakhs to a person named Habibur Rahman, owner of Spark Gold Jewelery in Bibi Ganguly Street, Bahubazar, Kolkata. On the information of RPF, the team of Income Tax Department from Kolkata also reached Howrah station. The RPF handed over the seized amount and the passenger to the Income Tax Officer for further action. The Income Tax Department has started investigation into the matter.
