New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to the construction site of the new Parliament Building in New Delhi tonight at around 8.45 pm.
He spent about an hour at the site and directly inspected the construction status of the new Parliament building.
The new building is being constructed close to the existing one under the Central Vista Redevelopment Project and is expected to be completed in 21 months from the start of construction work.

As per the plan, the new Parliament House, which will have separate offices for all MPs, will be equipped with the latest digital interface as a step towards creating a ‘paperless office’.
The new building will also have a grand Constitution Hall to showcase India’s democratic heritage, a lounge for Members of Parliament, a library, several committee rooms, dining areas and ample parking space.
Sources said that five idols, including Mahatma Gandhi And Bhim Rao AmbedkarThe existing Parliament complex is likely to be shifted temporarily and they will be re-established after the construction work of the new Parliament House is completed.
The iconic 16 feet tall statue of Mahatma Gandhi is located opposite Gate No. Parliament House.
The statue welcomes visitors entering the Parliament House and has also been the site of meetings, protests and press briefings by MPs.
