NEW DELHI: The last batch of India’s victorious Paralympic athletes, comprising shooting sensation Avani Lekha and shuttler-cum-bureaucrat Suhas YathirajThe heroes returned home to a rousing welcome on Monday along with their supporters and families at the airport to catch a glimpse of the heroes.
India on Sunday finished 24th in the overall tally in the country’s best Paralympic campaign to date with an unprecedented 19 medals, including five gold, eight silver and six bronze.

The last batch of Indian para athletes who returned home this evening consisted of a badminton team, shooters and a recurve archery team.

Gold and bronze medalists 19-year-old Lekhara, gold medalists Pramod Bhagat and Krishna Nagar, silver medalist Yathiraj, bronze medalist Manoj Sarkar and the winning shooters Sinharaj Adana and Manish Narwal others.

Para athletes welcomed by Haryana Sports Minister and former hockey player Sandeep SinghMILF Officer Paralympic Committee of India (PCI), apart from a bunch of fans among others.

Earlier, silver medalist table tennis player Bhavinaben Patel along with other athletes and officials also returned home in the morning.
All the athletes were garlanded and escorted out of the terminal by the airport’s civil defense volunteers to thunderous applause.

The para-athlete, who returned from Tokyo, is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.
