Ranchi: An Association of para-teachers Bihar decided to submit a memorandum to state ministers and legislators on Sunday to press for regularization of services on the lines of its colleagues.
In a meeting of the district committee members of the Integrated Para Shikshak Sangharsh Morcha at Morabadi Maidan, it was decided that they would submit a memorandum addressed to Chief Minister Hemant Soren to the MLAs and ministers on December 13 and 14.
The para-teachers will hold district and block level meetings on 12 and 19 December to prepare a plan to assemble at Morabadi Maidan on 29 December, where they will welcome the government if it announces regularization of their services. Para teachers have also planned a massive demonstration if the demands are not met.
Education Minister Jagannath Mahto has promised para teachers that the government will announce the implementation of rules regarding their appointment on December 29, which marks the completion of two years of the current government.
Hrishikesh Pathak, a member of the association, said, “We are now fed up with the government’s delay in meeting our demands. We have been given several timelines in the past as well. However, if the government does not fulfill its promise, this time we will hold protests across the state.
He mentioned that the Chief Minister had promised during the 2019 election campaign that he would regularize the para teachers and fix their salaries within three months of coming to power.
About 65,000 para teachers in the state are demanding salary on the lines of Bihar. Trained para teachers in Bihar are getting pay scales between Rs 5,200 to Rs 20,200 per month with provisions for provident fund and annual increment. Untrained teachers get around Rs 17,000 per month. Para teachers in Jharkhand are getting Rs 12,000 to Rs 15,000 per month.
Meanwhile, teachers’ unions of government schools on Sunday decided to postpone their program to gherao the chief minister’s residence till January. Earlier, on December 18, the teachers had announced an agitation to protest against the amendment in the time table of government schools and meeting the demands including revised assured career progression and promotion.
