Harvinder Singh, who lives in Ajit Nagar in Kaithal district of Haryana, has brought laurels to the country by winning the individual bronze medal in Archery (Recurve) at the Tokyo Paralympics. Harvindra is the first player to have won a medal in Archery in Paralympics. An announcement has been made by the state government to give Rs 2.5 crore to Harvindra. Chief Minister Manohar Lal, Sports Minister Sandeep Singh congratulated Harvindra.

Harvindra will return home from Tokyo on 6 September. According to the family members, when Harvinder had fever at the age of one and a half years, he was given an injection by a quackery doctor in the village itself, due to which his leg got damaged. He was treated by many doctors, but he could not recover. 29-year-old Harvinder Singh is currently pursuing his PhD in Economics at Punjabi University, Patiala.

Was expected to become an officer, did a bigger job than that
Harvinder’s father Paramjit Singh said that he was very smart in his studies from the beginning. They thought that Harvindra would become an officer. But in 2012, while studying at Punjabi University, Patiala, he started taking coaching in archery. He never thought that his son would achieve such a huge success that the country’s name would be illuminated all over the world.

Won silver medal only 20 days after mother’s death

Paramjit Singh told that in the year 2017, Harvindra’s mother had passed away. Since then he was in shock. But Harvindra did not lose courage and after 20 days won the silver medal in the Para Archery National Championship held in Secunderabad.

600 marks obtained in the ranking score competition

During the Tokyo Paralympics, the World Ranking Score Competition was held at the Orchary. It was attended by 31 archers from all over the world, with Harvindra scoring 600 out of 720.
