Panel to review Jharkhand Namaz room order Ranchi News – Times of India

Ranchi: The opposition BJP on Thursday ended its protest over the allotment of one prayer hall Inside the Vidhan Sabha after the last day of the monsoon session speaker Rabindranath Mahato built the house Panel To review the notification of allotment of rooms.
BJP MLAs disrupted all five working days of the session which began on September 3 in protest against the notification of the Assembly Secretariat issued on September 2. The supporters of the party also protested outside the assembly on this issue.
On Thursday, BJP MLAs arrived in the House wearing a black badge and on Wednesday descended into the well to protest the notification and police action against their leaders and supporters during a street march. Following the protest, the Question Hour was disrupted and the House was adjourned till 12.45 pm.
After the members regrouped, Congress MLA Dr Sarfaraz Ahmed proposed the formation of an assembly committee to review the notification. He said that the employees and staff of the Assembly had appealed to allot the space to be offered before the Speaker. Prayer during the assembly session.
“As there is an example, the assembly secretariat allotted the room, but it created a huge storm and I believe there should be a logical end to the deadlock,” Ahmed said.
The MLA pointed out that such a provision was introduced earlier during Jharkhand Legislative Assembly When Babulal Marandi was the Chief Minister and Inder Singh Namdhari was the Speaker. “There was nothing new in allotting a room for prayers, but for some reason it was opposed this time,” he said.
However, Marandi immediately refuted Ahmed and said that even if there was such a system, no notification had been issued. “I challenge the members to submit the notification, if any, issued at that time. We are a secular state and there cannot be a temple or a mosque in the assembly.
Meanwhile, Ahmed’s proposal was supported by JVM-P MLAs-turned-Congressmen Pradeep Yadav and Bandhu Tirkey. Yadav claimed, “On one hand our government is ready to review the notification and on the other hand the former chief minister is refusing to give space for namaz.”
While adjourning the House for lunch, the Speaker agreed to form a committee during the second part of the session. Later, he announced a seven-member panel headed by senior JMM MLA Stephen Marandi to review the notification. Other members of the panel include BJP’s Neelkanth Singh Munda, Congress’s Dr Sarfaraz Ahmed and Deepika Pandey, JVM-P’s Pradeep Yadav, AJSU-PK’s Lambodar Mahto and CPIML’s Vinod Singh.
Mahto said that the committee will study the arrangements in other state assemblies and Jharkhand assembly in the past and give its recommendation within 45 days.
“I appeal to the committee to submit its report first and based on its recommendation, a decision will be taken whether to withdraw the notification or continue it,” he said.
