The Indian Postal Department will issue a postage stamp on the completion of 50 years of Pandit Jasraj Pt. Motiram Pt. Maniram Sangeet Samaroh. It is an annual classical music festival held every November at the Chowmahalla Palace in Hyderabad. The festival was organized by the famous classical singer Pandit Jasraj in the memory of his father and brother, both classical musicians. This festival was started in 1972.

Pandit Jasraj, a 90-year-old musician, belonged to the Mewati gharana. He passed away in August 2020 following a cardiac arrest at his home in New Jersey, USA. He was the recipient of several prestigious awards including Padma Shri, Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan. Pandit Jasraj is survived by his wife Madhura, son Sharang and daughter Durga Jasraj, both musicians. After his death, the body of Pandit Jasraj was brought to Mumbai and cremated at Pawan Hans Crematorium, Vile Parle.

Pandit Jasraj’s daughter Durga Jasraj reacted to the news of a commemorative postage stamp in honor of her father’s concert. He wrote on Instagram, “Our entire family, students and music lovers will be eternally grateful to you for considering this a fitting tribute to the 50th year of Pandit Motiram – Pandit Maniram Sangeet Samaroh of Pandit Jasraj. This tribute will mark its presence. India The rich musical heritage of Jai Ho (sic).”
