Yash Chopra’s wife Pamela Chopra passed away in Mumbai on Thursday. She was 74 years old. Pamela had two sons with Yash, Yash Raj Films head Aditya Chopra, and actor Uday Chopra. The family issued a statement confirming the news of his death and revealed that the last rites took place at 11 am.

“With a heavy heart, the Chopra family wishes to inform that Pamela Chopra, 74, passed away this morning. Her funeral took place today at 11 a.m. in Mumbai. We are grateful for your prayers and the family is at this moment of deep sadness and reflection.” I would like to request privacy,” the statement read.

According to a report in Indian Express, she was hospitalized for 15 days for pneumonia. “She died today. She was on ventilator for 15 days at Lilavati Hospital. He had pneumonia,” Dr Prahlad Prabhudesai told the publication. The family has not yet issued a statement regarding this.

Pamela often collaborated with Yash in his films in various guises. According to the docu-series The Romantics, which marked her last on-camera appearance, Pamela played an important role in Yash’s films. He wrote the screenplay of the iconic film Kabhi Kabhi and styled the cast of the 1981 film Silsila. In addition, he also played a major role in the music of his films.

Pamela has been credited as a co-singer of the hit Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge song Ghar Aaja Pardesi. She sang it with Manpreet Kaur. She also sang the song ‘Main Sasural Nahi Jaungi’ from the film Chandni. She also appeared in the opening montage of Dil Toh Paagal Hai with Yash Chopra.

Talking about her love for music in The Romantics, Pamela said, “Music is my passion. Yash knew this and would invite me to attend music meetings. Gradually, I became a part of that group. Uday said, “My mother had a great sense of music and lyrics. We have this gadda room in our house, the music room, which was specially made for a creatively stimulating environment.” ,

He said, “My mother and father used to go through different pieces of music, trying to see what fit and what didn’t.”
