An old interview of Pamela Chopra has surfaced online in which she revealed why she was shocked when Aditya Chopra informed her about marrying Rani Mukerji.
Pamela Chopra, wife of filmmaker Yash Chopra, breathed her last on Thursday morning in Mumbai at the age of 74. The Chopra family shared the news through a statement on the official Instagram account of Yash Raj Films. After her demise, fans are revisiting old clips and pictures of Pamela Chopra. Even an old interview of Pamela has surfaced which shows her reaction to filmmaker-son Aditya Chopra’s desire to marry actress Rani Mukerji.
In a conversation with DNA, Pamela Chopra was asked what was her reaction when Aditya told her that he was going to marry an actress. Responding to the question, Pamela revealed that she was shocked to hear the news. This was because Aditya has always kept an extremely low profile; Questioning his mother as to how he can spend his life with an actress as celebs are always in limelight and have to maintain a high profile.
“When Adi told me that he wanted to marry her, I was shocked to be honest. He is very low profile and my first thought was how can he marry an actress as stars are very high profile and always in news. But then he fell in love with her very much. Rani makes her very happy and that is what matters to me as a mother,” said Pamela Chopra.
Rani Mukerji and Aditya Chopra tied the knot in April 2014 after dating for five years. The couple became parents to a baby girl in December 2015 and named her Adira Chopra.
Meanwhile, talking about Pamela Chopra’s death, earlier today, YRF Films’ Instagram page shared the statement and requested fans to give the family some privacy. “With a heavy heart, the Chopra family wishes to inform that Pamela Chopra, 74, passed away this morning. Her funeral took place today at 11 a.m. in Mumbai. We are grateful for your prayers and the family is at this moment of deep sadness and reflection.” I would like to request privacy,” the statement read.
According to a report in Indian Express, Pamela Chopra was battling pneumonia and was hospitalized for 15 days. She was an Indian playback singer and is survived by her sons Aditya Chopra and Uday Chopra.
