Pallavi Joshi reacts to Bollywood biggies failing at the box office, says ‘problems of India’ are not featured in movies – Times of India

Pallavi Joshi and husband Vivek Agnihotri delivered one of the biggest blockbusters of the year in the form of ‘The Kashmir Files’. However, other releases like ‘Shamshera’, ‘Prithviraj’, ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ and have failed at the box office.

Commenting on the disastrous fate of Bollywood biggies, Pallavi Joshi said that she isn’t an expert on what went wrong with other movies, but she does know what worked for ‘The Kashmir Files’. Pallavi Joshi stated that she always believes that the audience realise the intent with which you put across your subject and if you lose focus, then you get the same reaction from the audience too. She further told Hindustan Times that the audience ‘realise your honesty’ while making a movie. Pallavi Joshi stated that ‘The Kashmir Files’ worked because it mirrored real issues and that now there is a disconnect because the ‘problems of India’ don’t feature in Bollywood films anymore.

‘The Kashmir Files’ released in March and earned Rs 246 crore at the box office. When asked for her reaction to the movie earning awards, Pallavi had told ETimes, “I’m not even considering any of these award functions. I’ll be surprised if we get nominated. I know for a fact that we won’t be considered. But I think the film deserves a National Award, at least. There is a list that I have, but I’m sure we won’t get it in so many categories. But if we don’t get that one National Award, I guess I will be disappointed.”
