Earlier, Pallavi Joshi’s husband and the maker of The Kashmir Files, Vivek agnihotri also slammed Naseeruddin Shah for calling his movie ‘disturbing’.
Pallavi Joshi has reacted to Naseeruddin Shah calling The Kashmir Files ‘disturbing’. Released in 2022, the film revolved around the 1990 exodus of Kashmiri Hindus. Though the Vivek Agnihotri directorial was a massive box office success, some even questioned it and called it a ‘propaganda’ movie.
Pallavi Joshi urged Naseeruddin Shah to watch the film before making any comment about it and told E-Times, “Whatever Naseerji says gets circulated on social media. I am on social media, so I have read about his opinions but I have not seen them personally. Whatever Naseer Saab says about The Kashmir files, I have only one request for him that he should first watch our film and then say whatever he has to say.”
The actress further hoped that Shah’s opinion about The Kashmir Files would change if he watched the film. “The Kashmir Files is not the kind of film that he is thinking of. Having reached at this stage in life today, I feel that it is not right to believe in what I hear. Ther’s no maturity in believing what you hear. When I talk openly about anything, I always collect all the information related to that subject, if I have to talk about any film whether its The Kashmir Files or any other film, then I will definitely watch the film first,” she added.
Pallavi Joshi further admitted she is ‘hurt’ by Naseeruddin Shah’s comments and concluded by saying, “I respect Naseer bhai a lot, he is a very good artist, I request him to watch my film once. We have worked together in many films, so I know him well. Now if he comments on my film without seeing it, it hurts, but what to do, the world is like this.”
Earlier, Pallavi Joshi’s husband and the maker of The Kashmir Files, Vivek Agnihotri also slammed Naseeruddin Shah for calling his movie ‘disturbing’. Agnihotri called the veteran actor ‘frustrated’. “Some people are frustrated in life. They always believe in negative news and negative things, so I don’t know what Naseer bhai likes. I have been a fan of his acting and had cast him in ‘The Tashkent Files’ also. But of late he says these kinds of things. Maybe he has grown too old or maybe he is very frustrated in life,” he said.
For the unversed, Naseeruddin Shah was recently asked if the ‘objective of filmmaking has changed in Bollywood’ during an interview when he cited The Kerala Story, The Kashmir Files and Gadar 2 and called the films ‘disturbing’.
“Films like ‘The Kerala Story’ and ‘Gadar 2’, I haven’t seen them but I know what they are about. It’s disturbing that films like ‘The Kashmir Files’ are so massively popular whereas films made by Sudhir Mishra, Anubhav Sinha, and Hansal Mehta, who are trying to portray the truth of their times, don’t get seen. But it’s important that these filmmakers don’t lose heart and continue telling stories,” Shah told Free Press Journal.
