The Islamabad High Court (IHC) granted interim bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in an attempt to murder case against him by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Moshin Nawaz Ranjha. Filed, reported. News International on Tuesday.

According to media reports, the court has given relief to the former Prime Minister till March 9 on a bond of 1,00,000 PRK.

Notably, Ranjha had filed a petition against the ousted prime minister in October last year following an attack outside the Election Commission of Pakistan’s office in Islamabad. According to Ranja, he was attacked by PTI workers protesting against the ECP’s decision to disqualify their party chief in the Toshakhana case.

Earlier today, the court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Khan in the Toshakhana case.

Why was he prosecuted?

Notably, early last year, a large number of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) protested against the Election Commission after Khan was disqualified in the banned money case (Toshakhana case). However, he did not reach on time citing health and safety issues. Later, the court gave him an ultimatum to appear by 5 pm.
