ISLAMABAD: Senate President Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani on Monday announced that senators would protest in front of the Indian Embassy after Friday prayers against blasphemous remarks by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders.

In response to a suggestion by Senator Maulana Atta ur Rehman, Speaker Senate announced that MPs would register their protest before the Indian Embassy immediately after Friday prayers.

India has come under fire over blasphemous remarks made by leaders of two ruling party leaders with major Muslim countries demanding a public apology from the Indian government.

Several Gulf states summoned Indian diplomats and lodged strong protests demanding action against BJP members.

On Monday, the Foreign Office assigned India a strong demarcation on blasphemous comments and conveyed Pakistan’s categorical disapproval and condemnation of highly blasphemous comments about the Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH).

The FO said the Indian charge d’affaires was told that these comments were completely unacceptable and had deeply hurt the sentiments of not only the people of Pakistan but also of Muslims around the world.

The Indian diplomat was further informed that Pakistan regrets the delay and undue disciplinary action taken by the BJP government against the said officials, which cannot assuage the pain caused by Muslim sentiments.

“Pakistan is deeply concerned by the alarming rise in communal violence and hatred against Muslims in India.

In its statement, the FO said, Muslims are being systematically stigmatized, marginalized and organized attacks by radical Hindu mobs in various states of India with the full connivance and support of the security apparatus.
