Pakistan Yet To Show ‘Sincerity’ On 26/11 Mumbai Terror Attacks: India’s MEA Report

New Delhi: India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) released its annual report on Monday (March 13, 2023) and said that Pakistan has failed to bring justice to the families of 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. In its 345-page report, which was prepared by the policy planning division of the ministry, the external affairs ministry highlighted Pakistan’s persistent cross-border terrorism, infiltration and arms smuggling into India across the Line of Control and the International Border.

“Pakistan has yet to show sincerity in providing justice to the families of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks,” the report said. India urged Pakistan to take credible, irreversible and verifiable action to end cross-border terrorism. The need has been constantly emphasized.” ,

On November 26, 2008, 166 people, including 20 security force personnel and 26 foreign nationals, were killed, while over 300 were injured in the terrorist attacks in Mumbai.

India has repeatedly raised the issue of Pakistan’s continued support to cross-border terrorism in bilateral, regional and multilateral fora, and shared credible information about the Pakistani origin of captured terrorists.

Apart from cross-border terrorism, the MEA report also pointed out how Pakistan is engaging in “hostile propaganda to malign India and divert attention from its domestic political and economic failures”.

The report said that India categorically rejected all actions and statements of Pakistan on matters entirely internal to India, including Jammu and Kashmir.

The annual report of the Ministry of External Affairs provides a comprehensive overview of India’s foreign policy and its interactions with other countries.

The report’s critical commentary on Pakistan reflects the state of relations between the two neighboring countries, particularly on the issue of terrorism.

Despite occasional attempts to improve relations, such as the recent ceasefire agreement on the Line of Control, significant differences remain unresolved.
