Pakistan’s Faheem Ashraf has been cleared to play against Australia in the second Test in Karachi, the country’s cricket board said on Thursday.

The 28-year-old all-rounder had tested positive for the virus upon his arrival at the team hotel, putting his participation in doubt. The second Test starts on Saturday.

A Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) spokesperson was quoted as saying by Reuters news agency, “Faheem has tested negative in the retest and has rejoined the squad, which means he is now available for the second Test. “

Pakistan has got a big boost as Faheem along with Hasan Ali is also available for selection for the second Test. The fast bowler was ruled out of the Rawalpindi Test due to injury concerns.

Pakistan played Naseem Shah, Shaheen Afridi as their frontline pacers in the first test. Hasan is likely to replace Shah for the second Test.
