Pakistan To Not Host Champions Trophy 2025?

Pakistan and India’s age old rivalry in the game of cricket has received a lot of attraction all across the globe over the years. Despite of both cricket teams not being able to play against each other in a bilateral series due to government issues, both nations have been pitted against each other in multiple ICC events. The matches not only attract worldwide attention but have also produced one of the greatest moments in cricket history.

With Pakistan given the hosting rights of the Champions Trophy 2025, India’s participation in the tournament is doubtful with the government not allowing the team to travel to Pakistan.

A member of the ICC’s executive board revealed to PTI that a “hybrid model” for hosting the upcoming Champions Trophy in Pakistan is being considered. This option is being explored due to the uncertainty surrounding India’s participation, which hinges on government policies beyond the ICC’s control.

The ongoing ICC board meeting in Dubai does not include discussions on the 2025 Champions Trophy, but Mohsin Naqvi, the newly-elected PCB chairman, expressed his intention to seek reassurance from BCCI’s Jay Shah and ICC officials on the sidelines.

Despite this, another ICC board member stated that the BCCI’s decision on participation is likely to be made closer to the tournament date. Furthermore, there is still consideration for using the UAE as a potential venue, as discussed previously.

The Champions Trophy, scheduled for February-March 2025, is a subject of interest for various stakeholders, with the desire for clarity regarding India’s involvement. The evolving situation underscores the complexities involved in hosting major cricket events, particularly in regions where political factors can impact participation.

Pakistan To Host Tri Series After 2 Decades

Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the hosting of an ODI tri-series, marking the first time in two decades that Pakistan will host such an event. The triangular series will involve Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa and is scheduled for February 2025. This tri-series is intended to serve as preparation for the Champions Trophy, which is set to take place in February and March of the same year.
