After rejecting a no-confidence motion in the National Assembly, Pakistan’s Supreme Court held an automatic hearing on the subject later on Sunday, barring all state institutions from complying with any “extra-constitutional” measures. The matter was heard by a three-judge panel headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Umar Ata Bandiyal. On Sunday, Pakistan’s ailing Prime Minister Imran Khan retaliated by obtaining the presidential nod to dissolve parliament, a move condemned by the opposition as “unconstitutional”.
