Pakistan political crisis: Imran Khan claims US diplomat Donald Lu involved in ‘conspiracy’ to topple his government

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan escaped an opposition attempt to oust him after a no-confidence motion against him was rejected by the deputy speaker of the National Assembly, who claimed it was a “foreign conspiracy”.

Later, Imran Khan claimed that Donald Lu, the top US official dealing with South Asia at the US State Department, was involved in an alleged plot to topple his government.

Imran Khan claimed that Donald Lu had warned Pakistani envoy to the US, Asad Majeed, that there would be implications if the Pakistan PM escapes the no-confidence vote in the National Assembly.

Donald Lu has served as a political official in India and Pakistan, and as Special Assistant to the Ambassador in New Delhi, India. He speaks Albanian, Russian, Georgian, Azerbaijani, Urdu, Hindi and West African Krio.
