Pakistan PM security lapse: Afghan man intrudes into Shehbaz Sharif’s house; arrested

In a major breach of security, an Afghan man on Saturday barged into the official residence of Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. According to a Pakistani English daily, the man was later arrested and handed over to the Counter Terrorism Department for questioning.

The News International newspaper reported that security personnel stationed at the PM House reportedly did not know where the suspect had come from.

“The suspect was immediately taken into custody by the counter-terrorism department of the Islamabad police and taken to an undisclosed location,” the report quoted sources as saying.

Suspect claims to be from Afghanistan

The officials later revealed that the suspect claimed to be a resident of Afghanistan and had reached the PM House through three different routes.

He said the CTD, police and other security agencies are questioning the suspect.

Reports said that security agencies have obtained the CCTV footage of the suspect and are trying to ascertain how the suspect entered the highly secured PM House.
