Pakistan News Live: Pakistan’s Supreme Court will today resume hearing on National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser’s decision to reject a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan on ‘constitutional’ grounds. On Sunday, the court had taken suo motu cognizance of the dissolution of the National Assembly by President Arif Alvi. Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandiyal remarked that the judiciary may to some extent interfere in the proceedings of the National Assembly following the debate on the separation of powers between the judiciary and the legislature. The court refused to stay the Speaker’s decision when the no-confidence motion was dismissed. National Assembly Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri had rejected the no-confidence motion against the government led by Prime Minister Imran Khan, calling it a contradiction of Article 5 of the Constitution.
