To mark the nationwide protest against the desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden, the federal government of Pakistan will celebrate Yom-e-Taqdus-e-Quran on Friday. The decision was taken during a meeting to discuss the issue of desecration of the Holy Quran in Sweden, which was chaired by Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, reported news agency ARY News.

It was concluded that a nationwide fight would take place on Friday, July 7, to ensure the performance. The Prime Minister urged the nation, including all political parties, to participate in the protests. According to ARY News, the Pakistani government also said that it would convene a joint session of the Pakistani Parliament on July 6 to develop a national policy on the subject and represent public opinion through the parliamentary process.

A resolution condemning the desecration of the Holy Quran will also be passed in the joint session. The instructions to the party to participate in Yom-e-Taqdus-e-Quran and organize rallies across the country were given by the Prime Minister of Pakistan, who is also the President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.

He explained to the people that all Muslims are united because of their belief in the sanctity of the Quran. As the Prime Minister indicated, misguided minds were figuring out how to douse the fires of Islamophobia. Furthermore, PM Shehbaz said that if the country and its leaders believe in peace and coexistence, they should overcome the violent forces fueled by Islamophobia and religious prejudices.

Earlier, a man in Sweden’s capital Stockholm desecrated the Holy Quran, which was heavily condemned by several countries including Iran, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Morocco and others.
