PAK vs BAN, 1st T20I: Shoaib Malik’s awkward run-out video goes viral

New Delhi: Babar Azam-led Pakistan cricket team is playing a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh after a stellar performance in the recently concluded T20 World Cup. The Men in Green suffered a scare after beating Bangladesh by four wickets in the first match of the series to take a 1–0 lead in the series.

In Pakistan vs Ban 1 T20I, senior Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik came out to play his 450th match in T20 cricket. The veterans could have played a good innings to make this occasion special, but a big negligence returned them to the pavilion without scoring any runs.

At one point in the match, Pakistan lost three wickets for 23 runs in 5 overs. Malik, playing his 450th T20I match, came out to bat at number four as he wanted to stabilize his team’s sinking ship but was run out in a strange manner which created a buzz on social media.

The veteran Pakistani batsman tried to play a defensive stroke off Mustafizur Rahman in the sixth over of Pakistan’s innings but failed to make any connection as the ball went straight to wicketkeeper Narul Hasan.

Malik walks out of the crease with no intention of stealing a single. He had enough time to get back to the crease, just dropped his bat on the ground but failed to do so. Wicketkeeper Hasan displayed scintillating presence of mind as he caught Malik with a straight throw outside the crease to remove the stumps at the striker’s end.

Pakistan achieved the target of 128 runs in 19.2 overs. Shadab Khan helped his team win the last over with a thriller six. Fakhar Zaman scored 34 runs for Pakistan and Shadab remained unbeaten on 21, Mohammad Nawaz scored 18 runs.
