Aaron Finch of Australia is seen fielding during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup semi-final match between Pakistan and Australia at the Dubai International Stadium on November 11, 2021 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The captain of the team reached the final of the T20 World Cup after Australia’s victory over Pakistan from behind Aaron Finch Said it was a great game of cricket and credited match-winner Matthew Wade (41 not out from 17 balls) for providing a wonderful end to the semi-finals in Dubai on Thursday.

Wade hit four sixes in the death overs to take Australia to the target of 177 runs while adding 81 runs for the sixth wicket. Marcus Stoinis (31 to 40*)

“Never thought it was in the bag. It was a great game of cricket,” said Wade at the post-match presentation ceremony. “The way Wade kept his enthusiasm going at the end was amazing. That partnership with Stoinis was important,” he said.

It was believed that the dew came to Australia’s aid in the second innings after Mohammad Rizwan (67) and Fakhar Zaman (54*) took Pakistan to 176/4 in 20 overs. However, Finch said that during the second innings there was no dew.

“We’ve played some really good cricket at the back end. The chasing teams have been successful. There’s no dew, the lights are on. I was hoping I would lose the toss, bat first and score well on the board . ,” he said.

Meanwhile, Matthew Wade said that he did not feel comfortable batting on a dull surface but Stoinis soon showed him the way and eased his job in the end.

“I was a little unsure but Marcus showed me the way out,” Wade said. “There was a short side and I was confident I could pull it off if I had to target it, but it fell on a two-ball and you had to hit everything in your arc. I got a boundary early on. And then stayed for 5-6 balls, but Marcus removed the boundary and took us to a total where I was confident in the last two overs.”
