Pak NSA meets Taliban officials in Kabul – Times of India

Kabul: Visit of Pakistani National Security Advisor (NSA, Moeed Yusuf chatted with Taliban officials in Kabuli and discussed various topics including the formation of a Joint Working Committee for the economic development of both the countries.
On Saturday, there was a meeting between the Pakistani delegation led by the NSA and high-ranking Taliban officials, including Second Deputy Prime Minister Abdul Salam Hanafi and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Amir Khan Muttaki, reported Tolo News.
“The Islamic Emirate held talks on various issues such as politics, trade, economy, transit and expansion of bilateral ties,” said Taliban deputy spokesman Inamulla Samangani.
Pakistan’s ambassador to Afghanistan Mansoor Ahmed Khan called the talks between Moeed and Muttaki “constructive”.
“Moeed Yusuf met Mullah (Abdul) Salam Hanafi, Acting Deputy Prime Minister of Afghanistan and discussed strengthening Pakistan-Afghanistan fraternal ties to promote trade, transit, connectivity,” Khan said on Twitter.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement that during the meeting, Muttaki asked Yousuf to provide additional facilities for Afghan businessmen, Khama News reported.
“Transit routes to Afghanistan with Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan have been opened and we expect you to provide facilities for our merchants,” Muttaki told the NSA in the statement.
On his part, Yousuf reiterated the commitment of the Government of Pakistan to provide more facilities for the movement of people at the crossing points of Torkham and Chaman.
Earlier there were reports that the NSA would discuss the recent tensions around the Durand Line, the de facto border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
But neither the Pakistani Embassy in Kabul nor the government of Islamabad has given any official confirmation on this.
After several delays, Moeed finally reached Kabul on Saturday. He is the third senior Pakistani official to visit Afghanistan since the Taliban came to power in August last year.
Pakistan has not yet recognized the Taliban regime.
