Now the government of the neighboring country has come up with a plan to set up a mega city on the banks of the Ravi river, just 28 km from the Attari-Wagah border connecting India-Pakistan. It is being told as the dream project of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. It is being said that this will be a green city, which will also work to save the polluted Ravi river.

However, now this project appears to be in danger. Describing it as a waste of money, Pakistani people have started protesting against it. The Lahore High Court has ordered to stop it only last year.

The Ravi River is currently considered one of the most polluted rivers of Pakistan. The drains of the entire Lahore city fall in it.

Ravi Mega City will be of 46 square km area.
According to a Bloomberg report, a target of 15 years has been set to complete this Ravi Mega City project to be built in an area of ​​about 46 square kilometers. For this, the Ravi Urban Development Authority (RUDA) has also been formed. According to RUDA CEO Imran Aminak, canals will be drawn from the Ravi river for the mega city. Actually, the sewerage of Lahore city also falls in the Ravi river. Due to this the level of pollution in Ravi has increased significantly. In such a situation, the level of pollution will have to be reduced for Ravi Green City, which is not visible yet.

Farmer said – Government conspiracy to grab fertile land
Pakistan’s ambitious Ravi mega-city project, just 28 km from the Wagah border, is likely to be put on hold due to farmers’ protests. Prime Minister Imran Khan is busy taking forward the Ravi City project of about 52 thousand crores, but there is a tremendous opposition to this city. There is a plan to develop Ravi City as the Sister City of Lahore with a population of about one crore.

Farmers say that suddenly on getting the notice, it came to know that our land has been acquired by the government.

Mohammad Sajjad, a farmer living on the banks of Ravi, says that one day he suddenly came to know that his land has been acquired by the government. He had about 300 acres of collective land belonging to his entire family. The government has also given him compensation, but he has not accepted the compensation. The same thing happened to many farmers of the area, including Sajjad. All of them are against the mega city project because of losing their land.

Many farmers have also filed a petition in the Lahore High Court against the project. The Lahore High Court had last year ordered a stay on the Ravi Mega City project. Since then, the work is not going on at present. Farmers say that if they do not get relief from the High Court, then they will approach the Supreme Court. The clouds of crisis have started deepening over the Ravi Mega City project of the Government of Pakistan.

The fear of the land mafia is haunting the farmers

This is our land, we will never sell it
Abdul, a farmer from Ravi says that now when I look at my agricultural land, I find that there are big machines installed there. All the fields have been destroyed. The government is giving compensation in name, but we will not take it. This is our land for many years, we will not sell it.

Lahore was not handled, Ravi City’s plan was also wrong
Urban town planner Fauzia Qureshi says that the government could not mobilize facilities in Lahore, now it is increasing the plan of Ravi City. Due to its proximity, the random settlement of Lahore will spread to Ravi City in the coming time. This plan is wrong.
