Padma Shree Dr Seth felicitated for his cycling mission from Kashmir to Kanyakumari – Times of India

Jammu Aug 25: Pt Prem Nath Dogra Govt Degree College (PPND-GDC) Samba hosted a function on Thursday to felicitate Dr Kiran Seth, Padma Shree, an ex-IIT Professor and the founder of the Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture among Youth (SPIC MACAY) who is on a cycling mission from Kashmir to Kanyakumarion.
During his 145 days mission of cycling from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, he visited the host College. He was accompanied by Dr Sapna Sangra, Chairperson, SPIC MACAY, Jammu & Kashmir.
During his interaction with the students, Dr Seth, laid emphasis especially on the importance of honing the skill of concentration for the students. He also spoke on the Western and Indian concept of development and also stressed that for the wholesome growth of an individual parallel processing of both the channels is important.
For this he emphasized upon the relevance of Indian classical music, especially, Tanpura as the Indian classical music activates parallel processing channels of the brain. He, also, provided many vital inputs to the students on increasing concentration by meditation and yoga. .He explained the importance of cycling in the life of students.
Dr Seth also spoke about the phenomenal growth of SPIC MACAY from the time of its Inception and joined an interactive session with students.
On his arrival, Dr. Surinder Kumar Sharma, Principal of the host institution welcomed him and also introduced him to the students,faculty members and citizens of Samba during an interactive session held in college
Later the faculty members and the enthused students of the college accompanied him for a cycling spree from Chichi Mata to the College Campus.
