Over 3.14 crore Kovid vaccine doses available in states, union territories and private hospitals: Government

New Delhi: The Union Health Ministry on Monday said that over 3.14 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available in states and union territories and private hospitals. So far, 49,64,98,050 vaccine doses have been provided to the states and union territories through all sources and 9,84,610 doses are in the pipeline, it said.

The ministry said that 3,14,34,654 remaining and unutilized COVID-19 vaccine doses are still available with states and UTs and private hospitals. The Central Government is committed to accelerate the pace of COVID-19 vaccination and expand its scope across the country.

The new phase of universalization of COVID-19 vaccination began on 21 June. Immunization drive has been accelerated through better planning and streamlining of vaccine supply chain through availability of more vaccines, advance visibility of vaccine availability to States and UTs. , said the ministry.

As part of the nationwide immunization campaign, the Government of India is supporting the States and Union Territories by providing them free of cost COVID vaccines. The ministry said that in the new phase of universalisation of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign, the central government will procure and supply 75 per cent of the vaccines being produced by vaccine manufacturers in the country free of cost to states and union territories.
