Over 150 students stranded in Karnataka school due to floods, rescued

All the students trapped in a nearby drain due to floods at a government high school in a village in this district have been rescued, officials said on Friday. Around 150 students were trapped in the school on Thursday evening in Amargol village under Belavatgi panchayat jurisdiction.

Officials said a rescue operation was launched after the water level receded during the night and the children were safely pulled out of the tractor. A nearby drain was in spate after heavy rain in the afternoon. The school looked like an island because of the unexpected floods. After the floods, teachers found it difficult to keep children in their classrooms.
