Over 150 people stranded at Amritsar Airport due to foggy weather; authorities say ‘passengers were informed about it’

Amritsar airport administration to refute the allegations leveled against them regarding the disturbance, the administration claimed that the passengers were informed about the delay of the Neos airline flight and all necessary steps were taken to minimize any disruption. As many as 157 passengers were reportedly seen in distress at the Sri Guru Ram Das Ji International Airport in a video that went viral on social media on Saturday after their flight was delayed by several hours due to foggy weather.

Airport director VK Seth told ANI, “The passengers were informed about it and were offered hotel accommodation, but they refused and continued to stay at the airport. Three meals a day for them.” And the necessary arrangements were made.”

“The flight was scheduled to arrive from Jaipur on January 5, but was delayed by an hour,” he said. The whole commotion started on Wednesday night when an Amritsar-bound Nios airline flight was diverted to Jaipur due to bad weather and low visibility issues.

It was to land at Amritsar airport at around 11.50 pm on January 4 (Wednesday) and depart at around 1 am on January 5 (Thursday). But due to foggy conditions and low visibility issues, the crew diverted the flight to Jaipur.

“Although other flights were operating, this particular flight required high visibility. The crew then decided to divert it. And following the protocol and considering other issues like pilot’s comfort, it It was decided that the flight cannot take off before that. On completion of twelve hours,” he said.

The flight reached Amritsar on January 5 around 8 pm. The uproar went on for thirty minutes. They were relieved to hear that the flight was about to take off once the weather conditions normalised. All passengers boarded the flight safely.”

“The flight was delayed at Jaipur airport on Thursday as one of the passengers got tangled up with some immigration issues,” confirmed the airport director. Rejecting the allegations, Amit Sharma, manager of the airport, said, “Nowadays people have smartphones. They record videos, but they are not verified. Two or three families were protesting. Even I Also brought diapers for the kids at the airport.” All necessary arrangements were made for them.”
