More than 100 Afghan nationals have left for Tehran from India AfghanistanAfghan Embassy officials said on Saturday. Several hundred Afghan nationals, who had come to India for various reasons, including medical treatment, wait to return to Afghanistan following the suspension of civilian flights between the two countries after the Taliban came to power in Kabul on August 15.
Officials said the first group of more than 100 Afghan nationals left for Tehran on Friday on a Mahan airline flight. He said the group would reach Afghanistan after a few hours’ transit in Tehran.
“We look forward to more such flights in the coming weeks to bring back all the stranded Afghans,” an official said.
