During the session, Jaishankar also said that India’s diplomacy continues to accelerate amid the country’s growing global interests, expanding footprint and more intense partnerships.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Wednesday spoke on India’s relations with China and said that attempts to unilaterally change the Line of Actual Control (LAC) will not be tolerated. Speaking during the winter session of Parliament, he said relations with China are not “normal”, which he said has been evident over the past few years.

“Diplomatically, we are clear with the Chinese that we will not tolerate attempts to unilaterally change the LAC. If they continue to do this and create forces that create serious concerns in the border area then our relations are not normal, and this abnormality has been evident over the years,” ANI quoted the minister as saying.

During the session, Jaishankar also said that India’s diplomacy continues to accelerate amid the country’s growing global interests, expanding and forging more intense partnerships.

Only last week, China had said it was opposed to the Indo-US joint military exercise near the LAC, saying it violates the spirit of the two boundary agreements signed between New Delhi and Beijing.

A PTI report said that the 18th edition of Indo-US joint military exercise ‘Yudh Abhyas’ is currently underway in Uttarakhand, about 100 km from the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

The nearly two-week exercise began earlier this month. It aims to enhance interoperability and share expertise between the two armies in peacekeeping and disaster relief operations.

The mention of the 1993 and 1996 agreements by the Chinese Foreign Ministry is interesting India In May 2020, the People’s Liberation Army’s (PLA) efforts to move a large number of troops to disputed areas in the LAC in eastern Ladakh violated bilateral agreements.
