‘Our Heads Still Held High’: Kieron Pollard pens emotional note for Mumbai Indians fans

While Gujarat Titans (GT) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) made stellar starts in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this year, the likes of Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) would immediately want to forget the season. which recently ended.

IPL 2022 proved disastrous for MI as they finished last in the 10-team competition. Mumbai was the first team to be eliminated from the 15th edition of the league. After losing their first eight games before winning four of their remaining six matches, the five-time champions made some improvement but it was too late.

Their all-rounder Kieron Pollard has now shared a heartfelt note with his followers on social media. In the note, he admitted that he had a disappointing season not only in the franchise but also as an individual.

He said that the 2022 season was a learning curve for all the stakeholders of the Mumbai Indians franchise. “We know deep down how much this has hurt, but it hasn’t derailed the spirit, determination and hard work of every single individual,” he wrote.

The former West Indies international said that his disastrous run does not define him as a team or as individuals. “We move forward with our heads up, knowing that we have the opportunity to change lives and things. To Mumbai Indians and fans, we say goodbye to the 2022 season,” he said.

Pollard had a bad season. Following his inconsistent form with both bat and ball, he was later dropped from the playing XI.

He represented MI in 11 matches and scored just 144 runs at an average of 14.40 and a strike-rate of 107.46. Notably, this was his lowest strike rate of any IPL weather.

Pollard concluded his post by congratulating his former Mumbai Indians teammate Hardik Pandya, who is now the captain of Gujarat Titans, for a resounding victory.
