Unlike last week when there were multiple offers on different OTT channels; This weekend only saw two major releases – Bob Biswas and Inside Edge 3.
Bob Biswas got a good reception among the audience where the response ranged from fair to good. An experimental case where Sujoy Ghosh and his daughter Diya Annapurna Ghosh brightened up with Bob Biswas’ character to do a spin off from the story, the film makes for an interesting watch with Abhishek Bachchan doing well in the part. Though the film is not said to be exceptionally exceptional, it makes for a good watch and this is what allows Mouth Ki Baat to set up.
On the other hand, Inside Edge 3 is another big film by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani, where the lead characters played by Vivek Oberoi, Richa Chadha, Tanuj Virwani and Aamir Bashir return. The core of the cricket based drama has remained intact in the third season as well and what makes it special is that the production values are as good as ever, something that has been the USP since the first season. Considering the fact that India is having a cricket season with New Zealand as well, it is also nice to see cricketers on screen with Pakistan.

A few weeks back, Lara Dutta, Nushrat Bharucha and Neha Sharma had arrived with Hichki and Hookup, Chhori Aur Aalalya 2. Now this week she has yet another female centric web series coming up with her, Kya Hoga with the second season of Sushmita Sen Arya and Raveena Tandon returning in front of the camera with Aranyak.
Upon its release last year, Aarya had made a good impression and emerged as a decent success with the audience, the kind of drama that Ram Madhvani had cut for the screen. Now that Sushmita Sen is returning for the second season for revenge, some highly volatile drama can be expected from Sushmita with powerful performances. Shot during the pandemic, it is impressive to see how the second season is being put together and released in a short span of time, especially since Ram Madhvani also made another feature film Dhamaka during the same time period.
It’s been a while since Aranyak was announced and now that the web series is all set to release, one wonders if it could have been better with some sort of hype attached to it. Although the promo of the Raveena Tandon starrer film was released about 10 days back, there is no follow through. With Raveena Tandon as a cop who is out in the jungle to hunt down a killer, a lot of hype and hoopla can be expected around this suspense drama which is now completely out of the mouth of the audience. Depends on the matter.
